They are: Brazilian-born Naiara de Matos, who has danced with companies such as Leipzig Ballet, Konzert Theatre Bern, Augsburg Ballet and Dance Company St Ballen; Madeline Harms, most recently at the dance company of Staatstheatre Mainz, Germany, Piran Scott, most recently with the Dance Company St Gallen in Switzerland (where he was awarded Dancer of the Year 2022 in tanz Magazine Europe); Riley Fitzgerald, who returns to the company following time with the Ballet National de Marseille; and Lucy Angel, who joins straight from the SDC Pre-Professional Year Program. Born in Melbourne, Coe was spotted, at the age of 16, by Dame Peggy van Praagh when she was recruiting for the newly formed Australian Ballet.Within just four years, he became a soloist with the company. Emily Flannery, a proud Wiradjuri woman from Forbes in the Central West of NSW, has joined Bangarra Dance Theatre. In 1964 van Praagh established the Australian Ballet School, which was formed specially to train dancers for the company and remains the company's associate school to this day.
