The Vivian Creek Trail is the shortest and the steepest route to the summit of Mt. Devils Slide Trail has an excellent compacted track to follow to Saddle Junction. The South Fork Trailhead (officially known as South Fork Trail 1E04) lies about 2.5 miles off of Rt 38, close to the town of Angelus Oaks. This trail will become significantly more treacherous as it undergoes freeze/thaw cycles and compaction over the next week or two. All trails above about 6500 ft are currently lightly, or above 7500 ft moderately, snow-covered.
